I am loving the Freeway Clothing Store more and more as it pays tribute to another National Artist.
Weeks before the actual event, Freeway Online in Facebook hold a series of contests and gave away a Botong Francisco watch to lucky likers who answered the questions correctly. I was itching to join as I already know the answers to most of the questions (having received the invite for the event), but I just let the likers answer the question. I love that it allows the readers to research deeper about our national artists - something that I never get the chance to do on a normal day.
On Twitter, Freeway even gave away passes to the exclusive FreewayxLucioSanPedro launch (plus Botong Francisco watch and Lucio San Pedro memorabilia - how awesome!). I love that Freeway allows followers to be part of an event and witness how they give honor to a National Artist. I have friends who would have loved to be my precious plus ones during events, but because most of the invites are by-invite only, I cannot grant them the wish and play the fairy godmother.
Interestingly, I have a friend who I was able to bring during the event - he is a lomography hobbyist and he covered for Juan Manila. I am soo excited to see the pictures through lomo lens!
But who really is Lucio San Pedro? He is a National Artist for Music proclaimed in 1991. His most popular work is the lullaby, Sa Ugoy ng Duyan (which still gives me goosebumps everytime I hear the song. Brilliant!). He made it together with another National Artist, Levi Celerio (which Freeway also featured in their collection - read here). Another popular work is the Lahing Kayumanggi. He composed many different types of music including symphonic, band, vocal, choral, theater, chamber and movie, all which boasts Filipino pride and soul.
