Mister Donuts' New Donuts Offerings

Admit it, before the designer donuts have landed in the Philippine shores - we only go to two donuts stores. Now, I rarely get to visit these two places. I remember enjoying the smell of freshly brewed coffee and chocolate ganache every time we visit a store.

Last Friday, Mister Donut invited a few bloggers for an intimate dinner to let us taste its new offerings. I woke up late for the afternoon event I am planning to go to, so I just went straight to Bigoli, Eastwood. How convenient - my office is a few cartwheels away from the venue.

I was late. Thank you for the Friday traffic, but Mister Donut team is too nice to accommodate me. They just given away prizes to the contest winners. I hate that I missed it.

Before the big products surprise, I was delighted and surprised to see DJ Ramcy hosting the program. He is a college friend and it is nice to see him on action.

The BIG Premiere of American Idol Season 12 on StarWorld @ URBN

When I received an exclusive invite for the American Idol Season 12 viewing, I never thought that the organizers and Starworld Philippines would literally mean the event as BIG! It is indeed BIG!

American Idol Season 12 aired last Thursday, January 17th through Starworld Philippines. I am lucky to be part of the private viewing held in Urban Bar and Kitchen at The Fort Strip, Bonifacio Global City - with selected bloggers, friends from media, twitter personalities and celebrities like Jenni Eperson, Divine Lee, Calum David, Joey Mead, Sam O, Fabio Ide, and Tim Yap (who was also celebrating his birthday).

Days before the event, we were asked to choose between two teams - Team Mariah or Team Minaj - just to add a little excitement with the rumored rivalry and misunderstanding of the two judges. I initially chose Team Minaj, because I wanted to feel hip - BUT my memory can relate more to Team Mariah - so I am with Team Mariah that evening. I know more Mariah songs anyway, just incase there would be a singing contest! Haha.

(Airports) Public Toilets x Give-away

Oh, my blog title sounds funny - I am not giving away a public toilet, BUT will do give-away nice package for you to help maintain a clean toilet! (The pic above is a restaurant toilet in Ilocos! Cute!)

A little introduction - I have this weird thing of taking pictures of airport toilets (even hotels and restaurants!)! It started during my trip to Hong Kong. Since most of the travelers would go first to the toilet before immigration, I just thought airport toilets must always be presentable, clean and sanitized.

Check out some airport public toilets I had visited.

Thoughts and Notes About Les Miserables Musical Movie (2012)

"I felt like singing with the cast!", that's what I exclaimed when this guy with a mic approached me and asked me what I can say about the film - the camera was rolling. This was after the premiere held last Monday for Les Miserables. Thank you SM Cinema for the invitation to the red carpet premiere of Les Miserables!

A few days before the premiere, I tried to read the book again, the novel which I have read years ago as required by our High School English Teacher. During that time, I only cared about the book reaction paper, the skit that we needed to present, and the grade that I would get - I never realized I was reading an award winning novel - a novel of great stories - stories that will continuously be told in TV, film, musicals, and Broadway productions. Our very own Leah Salonga even played both the role of Fantine and Eponine (I know you can relate to her song - On My Own!)

When I read the book, I got really depressed.. as the title implies, it is the story of miserable ones.. poor people (not really poor, not rich - poor) but miserable, unfortunate ones. How can something so depressing be an award winning novel? I read the book and at the back of my mind I was imagining dark, gloomy setting.

But the Les Miserables 2012 movie gave me a different light and a different mood. I felt the struggle of the ex-convict Jean Valjean - his ways as a human and his redemption. I felt the love of the priest to the man of God, a mom's love for his child (Fantine to Cosette), a man's love for his work (Javert), a woman's (secret) love for a friend (Eponine to Marius), a man's love for his daughter, a man's love for justice and equality and a man's love for money (incredibly presented - thank you Thénardiers!).

My 10 Beauty and Fashion (New Year's) Resolutions

I am moving the new year today, as I only got the time to draft and finish my New Year's Resolution. I am a good person - I would like to think. It is just that I tend to forget about myself to do things for others - like work, family and everything else. So the New Year's Resolution is all about taking care of myself and aging with grace.

I have to post a blog and document so google would remind me just in case I forget. Let's start:

1. No more chipped polish!

Immortal sin of beauty and goddesses! But I am guilty. I do my own manicure and pedicure to save money and time - I use to go to nail spas to get really nice nail art, but I thought it would be more efficient to do it myself. I promise to take care of the nails, and re-do as necessary.

Basic Manicure and Pedicure sets available at Watson's
Nail Polishes from Nail Up Nail Polishes
Starlet Nail File from Forever 21

2. No more messy eyebrows!

Again, I am guilty! Beauty Bloggers, forgive me. I used to go to salon for the eyebrow threading, but that changes when I learned about tweezers. I should use it more often. And probably learn how to add a little volume to my thin eyebrows.

American Idol Season 12 : New Judges, New Audition Twists

I dread the mic! I can talk in front of the people like an activist, but don't expect melodies and lyrics to come out. When the country manager of Indonesia invited us for dinner, and the function room happens to have a karaoke machine - you can feel my dread crossing across seas and vibrating in the Philippines. Why, of all machines would that function room have a karaoke machine? Why not, sewing machine? an ATM machine? or a washing machine?!

So he told me, "you know what, all the Filipinos who come here love to sing.." ( - well.. I am an exception!) I want to evaporate at that moment. It is not just my father's surname that I am representing, but Filipinos too - Filipinos who love to sing and are great at that!

Filipinos and the whole Asia will unite once again as Star World brings the US's top reality TV show (for 8 consecutive years!)- American Idol! Star World will deliver American Idol Season 12 to every household in Southest Asia, India, Taiwan and Middle East.

The Life of Pi - Pi is Another Boy Who Lived

"I need a closure". My friend told me while we were having pasta and waiting for the screening of the Life of Pi last Sunday.

Why would anyone need a closure after reading a book? Is it like a relationship that you build with the characters? or with Pi? with the author, and the story?

The irony is, after watching the film and giving back the 3D glasses - I felt like I fall inloved with the movie. It was love at first sight. The type when you meet someone you are so interested in, and you start checking his Facebook profile? I did just that. I googled Pi's life. The story. I stalked the Life of Pi.

Have you seen the movie? Have you read the book? I wrote a feature-slash-review of the Life of Pi in When in Manila - http://www.wheninmanila.com/the-life-of-pi-the-movie/ - warning! There are some spoilers!

I seriously fell inloved with the story. I never know it was first published in 2000! What was I doing that time?!

Surprises of 2012 - A (Supposedly) Year-Ender Post

It is the first Saturday Sunday of the year - and I can still greet everyone a Happy New Year! (yes?) Holiday break was a little busy for me - but it was busier when I got back to the office - especially that I have to shift my body clock. I am glad that I am opening blogger again, and feeling the need to write.

I am not really planning of writing a 2012 year-end review - as I thought it would be too much work to dig through pictures, notes and brain cells for the highlights of my year. But I read some of my blogger friends' year end entries, and I thought it would be nice to have a blog entry too so I have something to look at aside from my Facebook's timeline (which is a mess too). Plus, you have become a part of me too - so let me share with you the highlights of my year.

with representatives from USA, India, Mexico, Brazil
Austria, Mayor of Makassar, Indonesia and IBM Indonesia Country Manager

Even before the year 2012 started, I know this is one of the biggest highlights of my year. I always tell my friends that this is one story of my life that I will never get tired of sharing. Imagine staying in another country for a month with people from different parts of the globe who you only know by name and their voices. Do I sound like I were part of the Ms. Universe Pageant? Close to that, (and yes, I wore swimwear!). I passed the 2011 IBM Corporate Service Corp Program. It is a very competitive leadership program and most who made it to the list are the ones who are already in managerial and executive positions. So it was such a great accomplishment to be part of the program. The experience is really priceless - I would not trade with anything.

Back to Regular Programming.. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year dear readers! I can't believe my blog date stamp will now show 2013. It is the first time I am logging in to blogger after the Holiday Break. I was on haitus.. not much of Twitter updates, Facebook stalking - or whatever you want to call it. I saw alot of friends tagging me on Facebook wishing me Happy New Year, and thanking me for being a part of their 2012. I am pleased. Thank you. I realized I haven't thanked yet the people (and now brands and companies!) who trusted me and made me a part of their fruitful year. Thank you. Thank you! If you are reading this entry - Thank you!

Apologies if I kind of forgotten about you (my blog). I felt it was more meaningful to spend more time with the people I care much about offline - than type random status messages and updates on social media. I chose to spend those minutes bonding with my family (my niece and nephew! who I only get to see once a year!) - than get frustrated with my wifi connection. At one point, I felt that I lost my interest in writing - that I find it hard to string words and create a meaningful entry. I felt guilty that I missed and disappointed some people because of this - but still I thank you for giving me the time to enjoy myself (outside blogging) and to regain the passion in writing.

I find it odd that on a later part of the year - I am taking less pictures, writing less stories, and sharing less about me and my experiences on social media. Is this all part of aging..? I used to be very excited writing in my new planner and planning my year..

Probably - I learned to live and enjoy life everyday, that everyday feels like a celebration, but excitement and anticipation fade. Not certain if I am making sense.

Anyway, thank you. I never intended this blog entry to be dramatic and emotional. So I am just letting everything to Him, and to you.

I hope your new year is safe and healthy.

More stories coming in a few days..
